Intensely deep azure blue vase of pure, classic form with a fine, crackle glaze (craquelure), made at Bing & Grondahl in Copenhagen Denmark. Color is quite reminiscent of fine antique Chinese porcelain or of Egyptian paste-- it is a deep cerulean blue, much more saturated and greenish than the photos are able to show. 6 1/2 inches in height and 3 inches across the opening. inside rim is glazed, and the interior is white. the handwritten numbers on the bottom are 463/010, with a line through the first 0.

Heavy stoneware dishes by Jorgen Mogensen, (1929-) who was at the Royal Copenhagen studio from 1949-1964, when he left to start his own studio. Decorated with this artist's primitive Scandinavian motifs,with a repeating abstract pattern impressed into the bottom, and glazed in a subtle green and brown mottled glaze. Marked with the studio marks, and incised with the artist's mark, Jorgen Mogensen (jm) under the glaze.

Hand-thrown Danish Palshus bowl by Per Linnemann-Schmidt, probably from the 1960's. Greenish gloss glaze over incised concentric circles, measuring 3 1/2 inches tall and about 3 inches across the top. Mark is incised into the unglazed clay body on the bottom, and it reads "Palshus Denmark PL-S unik," which means it is hand-thrown by the artist and one-of-a-kind, rather than a production piece.

NYMOLLE DENMARK TILE

This 5 7/8 inch square whimsical handpainted faience tile is stamped with the Nymolle mark on the back; it is most likely (although unsigned) the work of Wiinblad, principal artist at the studio. It depicts two people in a sylvan setting in navy blue on white. The tile is in very good (used) condition, moderate wear.
